Judy Garland, born Frances Ethel Gumm, was an American actress, singer, and vaudevillian whose career spanned four decades. She began performing at age two with her sisters and gained international recognition as Dorothy Gale in The Wizard of Oz (1939). Garland also starred in MGM musicals and dramatic films, recorded 11 studio albums, and became the first woman to win the Grammy Award for Album of the Year. She died in 1969 at age 47.
