The 1986 FIFA World Cup was the 13th edition of FIFA's quadrennial tournament for men's senior national teams. Held in Mexico, it used a 24-team format and was the first World Cup hosted more than once by the same country. Argentina won its second title, defeating West Germany 3–2 in the final at Estadio Azteca. Diego Maradona captained Argentina and scored five goals during the tournament.
