Yūichirō Miura

Yūichirō Miura is a Japanese speed skier and alpinist, born in Aomori Prefecture in 1932. He was introduced to alpine sports by his father while in second grade and graduated from Hokkaido University. In 1970, he became the first person to ski on Mount Everest. In 2013, aged 80, he became the oldest person to summit Everest. He has also skied down peaks including all the Seven Summits.
