Itsukushima is an island in Japan's Inland Sea, in the northwest of Hiroshima Bay. Also called Miyajima, meaning “Shrine Island”, it is part of Hatsukaichi in Hiroshima Prefecture and one of the Three Views of Japan. It is known for the UNESCO World Heritage Site Itsukushima Shrine, as well as temples, cherry blossoms and autumn maple foliage. Its surrounding waters are within Setonaikai National Park and experience strong tides.
