The Boeing B-29 Superfortress was a retired American four-engined, propeller-driven heavy bomber designed by Boeing. It was flown primarily by the USAAF and USAF during World War II and the Korean War. Designed for high-altitude strategic bombing, it also conducted low-altitude night incendiary bombing and naval mine-laying missions. Silverplate B-29s dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The aircraft had a pressurized cabin, remote gun turrets, and an analog computer-controlled fire-control system.
