North Sentinel Island is an island in the Andaman Islands, an Indian archipelago in the Bay of Bengal. It is a protected area and home to the Sentinelese, an uncontacted indigenous tribe. Indian regulation prohibits travel to the island or approaching within five kilometres, to limit the risk of infectious disease. The Sentinelese have defended their isolation by attacking approaching vessels and aircraft, sometimes causing injury or death.
