Caeneus is a figure in Greek mythology, described as a Lapith hero, ruler of Thessaly, and father of the Argonaut Coronus. Born as Caenis, daughter of Elatus, Caeneus was transformed into an invulnerable man by Poseidon after Poseidon had sex with Caenis. Caeneus took part in the Centauromachy and was killed by Centaurs, who pounded him into the ground while he was alive.
