The lovebug (Plecia nearctica) is a species of march fly found in parts of Central America and the southeastern United States, especially along the Gulf Coast. It is also called the honeymoon fly or double-headed bug. Mature pairs can remain together during and after mating, including in flight, for several days. Its larvae feed on partially decayed vegetation, while adults primarily feed on nectar. Swarming during mating season can make the species a nuisance to motorists in Florida.
