The January 2019 lunar eclipse was a total lunar eclipse that occurred on Monday, 21 January 2019, at the Moon’s ascending node of orbit. Its umbral magnitude was 1.1966. It took place about 10 hours before perigee, making the Moon’s apparent diameter larger, and was described as a supermoon. During totality, video from Griffith Observatory recorded a meteoroid impact on the Moon.
