The blackspotted stickleback, Gasterosteus wheatlandi, is a species of ray-finned fish in the stickleback family Gasterosteidae. It occurs in the western Atlantic, from Newfoundland, Canada, to Massachusetts, United States. It lives near shore in marine and brackish water, rarely entering freshwater, and is often associated with floating vegetation. Males build nests where females lay eggs, then guard and aerate them.
