John Dingell

John David Dingell Jr. was an American Democratic politician who represented Michigan in the United States House of Representatives from 1955 to 2015. He was the longest-serving member of Congress in American history and chaired the House Energy and Commerce Committee during two periods. Dingell helped pass major legislation including the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Clean Water Act of 1972 and the Affordable Care Act. He received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2014.
