1980s professional wrestling boom

  • Professional Wrestling

The 1980s professional wrestling boom, also called the Golden Era or Rock 'n' Wrestling Era, was a surge in professional wrestling's popularity in the United States and elsewhere. Cable television, pay-per-view and promotion by figures including Vince McMahon helped shift the industry from numerous regional companies to the nationwide World Wrestling Federation and World Championship Wrestling. The National Wrestling Alliance's power declined, as did efforts to sustain belief in kayfabe.
