248 Lameia is a typical main-belt asteroid discovered in Vienna by Austrian astronomer Johann Palisa on 5 June 1885. It was named after Lamia, a lover of Zeus in Ancient Greek mythology. It orbits the Sun every 3.88 years and has a low orbital eccentricity. Observations estimate its diameter at about 47 to 49 km, while infrared imaging suggests material similar to carbonaceous chondrite meteorites.
