Legionaries of Christ

The Congregation of the Legionaries of Christ is a Catholic religious congregation of pontifical right, founded in 1941 by Mexican priest Marcial Maciel. It is part of the spiritual family of Regnum Christi. Maciel led the congregation until 2005. Investigations and reforms followed revelations concerning breaches of celibacy and sexual abuse of minors. New statutes for the Regnum Christi Federation were approved by the Holy See in 2019.
