Cremona is a lunar impact crater located along the Moon’s north-northwestern limb. It is viewed from the side from Earth, so detailed observation requires orbital viewing or photography. Dating to the Nectarian period, it is an old, worn formation whose rounded rim and irregular walls have been modified by smaller impacts. The crater is named after Italian mathematician and educator Luigi Cremona; its designation was officially adopted by the International Astronomical Union in 1964.
