The Athenian Captive is a tragedy by the British writer Thomas Talfourd, published in 1838. Originally intended for performance at Covent Garden in London, it was delayed after an actress became ill during rehearsals. The play instead premiered at the Theatre Royal, Haymarket on 4 August 1838. William Macready played Thoas and Mary Warner played Ismene.
