The Miyako, also called Miyako uma, is a Japanese breed of small horse originating on Miyako Island in the Ryukyu Islands. The island lies in the southern part of Okinawa Prefecture in south-western Japan. The breed is endangered, and its total population has not been recorded at more than forty head since record-keeping began in 1977.
