  • Christianity

In Christian theology, Body of Christ can refer to Jesus Christ's words over bread at the Passover celebration, “This is my body”, or to all individuals who are “in Christ”. In the Pauline epistles, it refers to believers joined together in a spiritual community. Christian understandings of the Eucharistic meaning range from symbolic to more literal or mystical. Catholic and Eastern Orthodox theology also use “mystical body” for the Church.
