It elects one member through first-past-the-post voting and is numbered constituency 122 under the current system. Located in the Ruhr region of North Rhine-Westphalia, it comprises the city of Gelsenkirchen. The constituency was created for the inaugural 1949 federal election and has been represented by Markus Töns of the Social Democratic Party since 2017.
