Thomas Carter (minister)

Thomas Carter (1608 to 5 September 1684) was an American colonist and Puritan minister. Educated at Cambridge, he emigrated from England during the Puritan Great Migration. Ordained in 1642, he was described as the first person in the American colonies to receive a Christian ordination. Carter served churches in Dedham, Watertown, and Woburn, and was a signer of the Dedham Covenant and a founder of Woburn.
