Cichlasomatinae is a subfamily of cichlid fishes. It includes cichlids native to the Greater Antilles, southern Texas, Mexico, Central America, and many South American cichlids. The subfamily is often divided into the tribes Cichlasomatini and Heroini. Some authorities instead classify these tribes within the wider Neotropical and marginally Nearctic subfamily Cichlinae.
