An ice giant is a type of giant planet composed mainly of elements heavier than hydrogen and helium, including oxygen, carbon, nitrogen, and sulfur. Uranus and Neptune are the Solar System's two ice giants. They are distinct from the hydrogen and helium dominated gas giants Jupiter and Saturn. Ice giants lack well-defined solid surfaces and are primarily made of gases and liquids, with water mainly occurring as supercritical fluid inside them.
