Proposed USAAF twin-turbojet fighter design
Uncommon
The Lockheed L-133 was a proposed United States Army Air Forces jet fighter design begun in 1939. Intended for World War II, it used two axial-flow turbojets and an unusual blended wing-body canard layout. The design was projected to reach 612 mph (985 km/h) in level flight, but the USAAF rejected the proposal in 1942. Its development effort helped speed work on the P-80 Shooting Star, the USAAF's first successful operational jet fighter.
