Musk deer are the seven species of the genus Moschus, the only extant genus in the family Moschidae. Although commonly called deer, they are not true deer and are more closely related to Bovidae. They lack antlers and preorbital glands, and possess canine tusks and a musk gland. Musk deer live in forested and alpine scrub habitats in the mountains of East Asia, the Himalayas and Siberia.
