A winter storm, also called a snow storm, is a storm in which wind occurs with precipitation that forms only at freezing temperatures. This can include snow, mixed snow and rain, or freezing rain. In temperate continental and subarctic climates, winter storms can also occur in late autumn and early spring. A snowstorm with strong winds and low visibility is called a blizzard.
