The Eurasian lynx (Lynx lynx) is one of four extant species in the medium-sized wild cat genus Lynx. It is distributed across Northern, Central and Eastern Europe, Central Asia, Siberia, the Tibetan Plateau and the Himalayas. The species inhabits temperate and boreal forests, reaching elevations of 5,500 m. It is threatened by habitat loss and fragmentation, poaching, and depletion of prey.
