Produced by Sojiro Motoki for Toho, it stars Chieko Nakakita and Isao Numazaki as a young couple spending their only shared day of the week together with 35 yen. Shot on location in war-damaged Tokyo, it depicts the difficulties of life in early postwar Japan and uses imagined sequences and creative sound.
