Bobsleigh, also called bobsled, is a winter sport in which individual athletes or teams of two to four make timed speed runs down narrow, twisting, banked and iced tracks in gravity-powered sleighs. International competition is governed by the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation. The first bobsleds were built in late 19th-century St. Moritz, Switzerland. Modern events include four-man, two-man, two-woman and women's monobob competition.
