The Last Supper is a mural painting by Leonardo da Vinci, dated to about 1495 to 1498 and housed in the refectory of the Convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie in Milan, Italy. It depicts the Gospel of John scene in which Jesus tells the Twelve Apostles that one will betray him. Commissioned by Ludovico Sforza, it was painted with tempera on gesso, pitch, and mastic. Little of the original survives despite restoration attempts.
