Max von Schenckendorff was a German Wehrmacht general during World War II. From March 1941 until his death in 1943, he commanded Army Group Centre Rear Area, the military jurisdiction behind Army Group Centre. He organized the Mogilev conference, where Wehrmacht and SS officers discussed so-called bandit fighting tactics connected with mass murder of Jews and other actual or perceived enemies. He died of a heart attack while on leave in Krummhübel.
