The Mary Rose was a carrack in King Henry VIII’s English Tudor navy. Launched in 1511, she served in wars against France, Scotland, and Brittany before sinking off Spithead in the Solent during action against a French invasion fleet in 1545. Located in 1971 and raised by the Mary Rose Trust in 1982, her surviving hull and recovered artefacts are displayed in Portsmouth and provide important evidence of Tudor naval life.
