Franz Leuninger was a German trade unionist, politician and opponent of the Nazi regime. A bricklayer by trade, he became a regional leader of the construction workers' union in Silesia during the 1920s. He served on Breslau's city council for the Zentrumspartei and ran for the Reichstag in 1933. Arrested after the 20 July 1944 plot, he was sentenced to death and executed in 1945. The Catholic Church later introduced him as a martyr of the 20th century.
