Oxalis pes-caprae

Oxalis pes-caprae is a tristylous, yellow-flowering plant in the wood sorrel family Oxalidaceae. It is indigenous to South Africa and is also called African wood-sorrel, Bermuda buttercup, Cape sorrel, sourgrass and soursob, among other names. Its sour taste is caused by oxalic acid in its tissues. In other parts of the world, it has become a pest plant that is difficult to eradicate because it propagates through underground bulbs.
