Lieutenant-General Guy Granville Simonds was a senior Canadian Army officer who served in the Second World War. After early staff duties, he commanded the 1st Canadian Infantry Division in Sicily and Italy, II Canadian Corps in Normandy and Western Europe, and temporarily the First Canadian Army during the Battle of the Scheldt. He became Chief of the General Staff in 1951 and retired in 1955.
