Described by Jacques Blache, it is known from a single specimen recovered from the stomach of a fish caught at 180 metres in Sierra Leone, eastern Atlantic Ocean. It is presumed to burrow in sand or mud, as is common among eels. Males reach a total length of 23.2 centimetres.
