OSBPL2 is a human protein-coding gene that encodes oxysterol-binding protein-related protein 2. The protein belongs to the oxysterol-binding protein family of intracellular lipid receptors. Unlike most family members, the encoded protein contains only a conserved C-terminal OSBP-like sterol-binding domain. In vitro, it binds strongly to phosphatic acid and weakly to phosphatidylinositol 3-phosphate, but not to 25-hydroxycholesterol. It associates with the Golgi apparatus, and transcript variants encode different isoforms.
