Aianteion, also called Aeantium, was an ancient town in the Troad, in present-day Turkey. Its name means “of Ajax”. The Rhodians founded the town in honour of Ajax of Salamis, after whom it was named. Pliny the Elder wrote that it stood near the tomb of Ajax. Its site is near Kumkale in Asiatic Turkey.
