Billy Graham was an American evangelist, ordained Southern Baptist minister, and civil rights advocate. From 1947 until his retirement in 2005, he led annual evangelistic live campaigns called crusades, often filling large venues and reaching audiences through radio and television. He opposed racial segregation and advocated integration at his revivals. Over a career of more than six decades, he became a prominent evangelical Christian figure in the United States and internationally.
