Jack McDevitt is an American science fiction author born in 1935. His novels often concern efforts to contact alien races, archaeology and xenoarchaeology. Many of his books follow relic hunters Alex Benedict and Chase Kolpath, or space pilot Priscilla “Hutch” Hutchins. His first published story, “The Emerson Effect”, appeared in The Twilight Zone Magazine in 1981. His novel Seeker won the 2006 Nebula Award for Best Novel.
