A, or lowercase a, is the first letter and first vowel letter of the Latin alphabet and is used in modern English and other languages worldwide. Its English name is “a,” with the plural “aes.” The letter derives from the Ancient Greek alpha and resembles it in shape. Uppercase A has two slanting sides crossed by a horizontal bar, while lowercase a commonly has double-storey and single-storey forms.
