The Corbet family is an aristocratic English family of Anglo-Norman extraction. They were early marcher lords who held the barony of Caus. After the senior line became extinct, a junior line based at Moreton Corbet Castle became among the richest and most powerful landed gentry in Shropshire. The family traces its ancestry to two barons in the 1086 Domesday Book and may have originated near Sées in Normandy.
