John F. Kennedy, the 35th president of the United States, was assassinated in Dallas, Texas, on November 22, 1963, while traveling in a presidential motorcade. Lee Harvey Oswald was charged with the murders of Kennedy and Dallas police officer J. D. Tippit, but was killed by Jack Ruby before trial. The Warren Commission concluded Oswald acted alone, while later investigations and public debate produced continuing conspiracy claims.
