Dominica, officially the Commonwealth of Dominica, is an island country in the Caribbean and part of the Windward Islands in the Lesser Antilles. Its capital is Roseau, on the island's western side. The island is the youngest in the Lesser Antilles and continues to be formed by geothermal and volcanic activity. Dominica became an independent republic in 1978 and is known for mountainous rainforests and Boiling Lake.
