The 3rd (United Kingdom) Division, also called the Iron Division, is a regular army division of the British Army. Created in 1809 by Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington, it served in the Peninsular War and fought at Waterloo, in the Crimean War and in the Second Boer War. It acquired the name Iron Division after bitter fighting in 1916. During the Second World War, it fought in France and took part in the D-Day landings.
