The Sahara is a desert spanning North Africa. Covering 9,200,000 square kilometres, it is the world's largest hot desert and the third-largest desert overall. It extends from the Red Sea and Mediterranean region to the Atlantic Ocean, and is bounded to the south by the Sahel. Its landscape includes regions such as the Ahaggar, Tibesti and Aïr Mountains, the Ténéré, and the Libyan Desert.
