Legendary
East Germany, officially the German Democratic Republic (GDR), was a Central European country that existed from 7 October 1949 to 3 October 1990. It was governed by the Socialist Unity Party of Germany and was generally viewed as a communist state. Its centrally planned economy became the most successful in the Eastern Bloc. Peaceful protests in 1989 helped bring down the Berlin Wall, leading to liberalization, elections and reunification with West Germany.
