The Mona Lisa is a half-length portrait painting by the Italian artist Leonardo da Vinci. Traditionally considered to depict the Italian noblewoman Lisa del Giocondo, it is painted in oil on a white poplar panel. The painting is noted for its subject's enigmatic expression, subtle modelling of forms and atmospheric illusionism. It has normally been displayed at the Louvre in Paris since 1797.
