BETASOM was a Regia Marina submarine base established at Bordeaux, France during the Second World War. Its name was an Italian acronym of Bordeaux Sommergibile or Sommergibili. From 1940 to 1943, Italian submarines based there took part in the Battle of the Atlantic as part of the Axis anti-shipping campaign against the Allies.
