Ontario is the second-largest province by total area, after Quebec. Ottawa, Canada's federal capital, is in Ontario, while Toronto is the province's most populous city and provincial capital. Southern Ontario contains most of the population and arable land, while Northern Ontario is sparsely populated and has major mining and forestry industries.
