Europe is a continent located entirely in the Northern Hemisphere and mostly in the Eastern Hemisphere. It shares the Eurasian landmass with Asia and is commonly considered separated from Asia by features including the Ural Mountains, Ural River, Caspian Sea, Greater Caucasus, Black Sea, and Turkish straits. Covering about 10.2 million square kilometres, it is the second-smallest continent in the seven-continent model and contains about fifty sovereign states.
